Finca Buena Vista is located in southwestern Colombia in the Risaralda department. The municipality, Belén de Umbría is 67km away from the department’s capital, Pereira. The farm is known as the best coffee producer of the department – and in some cases all the central coffee region of Colombia. It won the “”high quality”” competition in 2017 as well as making final selections in other competitions.

The Buenavista farm located at 1810 – 1940 m has a special climate for quality coffee production where in the day they have temperatures between 20 ° C and 22° C and in the night between 12 ° C -14 ° C.

The farm is planted with castillo rosario which was developed by Cenicafe in 2005. They created 6 different types of Castillo to suit the different growing regions in Colombia. It is a cross between caturra and Hybrid de Timor. On the farm they take great care of the land and soil and have it tested and analyzed every two years. The weeds and plants such as spearmint are also left to grow as they don’t use any chemical pesticides to remove these. There are also a large number of native trees planted on the farm including 320 yellow Guayacanes to protect the soils and provide organic material. The farm also has 13 bee hives in total to help with pollination it is believed there is greater production with this method of pollination. The honey from the bees is also a food source for the workers at the farm. In total the farm employs around 50 people across various roles and they are provided with good access to subsidized food as well as having tv’s, pool tables and a soccer field for activities outside of work.
